Transitioning off-campus in Burlington can be rough.

In fact, it's dizzying to find every utility you need to compare the prices for each and every company. Coming from UVM and Champlain students, Beacon has written a guide on the cheapest utilities to buy in Burlington, Vermont.

1. Internet

Burlington Telecom is cheaper and faster than FairPoint Communications and Xfinity.

Burlington Telecom has a Student Discount which makes them the cheapest!

They also offer Gigabit Internet, which is only available in a few places in the country!

2. Electric

Burlington Eletric is the cheapest, and more accessible than Green Mountain Power.
Average 1 person house: $21 / month
Average 2 person house: $44 / month
Average 3 person house: $67 / month
Average 4 person house: $90 / month
Average 5 person house: $109 / month
Average 6 person house: $119 / month
Average 7 person house: $140 / month

3. Trash

Myer's Trash is the cheapest, and slightly more accessible than Chittenden Solid Waste District.

4. Gas

Vermont Gas is the cheapest, and more accessible than Trono Fuels.
Keep in mind these prices are much higher in the winter!

5. Water

For the most part, water is paid for by Burlington Landlords and is factored into rent.
The City of Burlington provides water for $4.05 per 100 cubic feet for all users. For those customers with water only accounts, the rate is $4.13 per 100 CF.
