The Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce is seeking a Vermont Youth Tomorrow AmeriCorps

VISTA member beginning 8/28/17. With over 1,500 business members, the Chamber offers a variety of

programs supported by the Lake Champlain Lifelong Learning Fund “to improve the educational success

and career prospects for youth and adults through school, business, and community partnerships.” This

is a one year position based in Burlington, Vermont. This role will support TIPS (Training Interns and

Partnering for Success), a statewide program that teaches local high school students job skills, through a

one semester interactive classroom course that is followed by a 20-40 hour internship with a local

organization. The Chamber has partnered with 3-4 local schools to provide TIPS for the 2017-18 school

year. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

VISTA Member Duties include, but are not limited to:

 Assist partner schools with the implementation and development of the TIPS program

 Provide support to TIPS students and teachers, assisting with internship placements

 Develop and manage a database of businesses that have committed to hosting student interns

 Provide outreach to area businesses for internship hosting

 Build organizational capacity by assisting with grant writing, reporting and management,

developing system for grant paperwork

 Support the planning of events, and assist with public relations

AmeriCorps VISTA members commit to one year of service with LCRCC, and are a driving force behind

the TIPS program. AmeriCorps Program benefits include: a monthly living stipend, professional

development training, and an educational award after the completion of a successful year of service.
